On 26 September, we began a truly special chapter in the history of Antokol Care Home - the celebration of our 75th Anniversary. 75 years is an extraordinary milestone. It represents generations of people, countless memories, friendships, laughter, challenges overcome together, and above all, a home that has been built not simply from bricks and walls, but from people, kindness, compassion and love.
One of our wonderful residents affectionately calls me “the captain of this ship.” It is a description that always makes me smile, but as we celebrate this remarkable anniversary, it also feels especially meaningful. Every ship needs a captain, but no captain can sail alone. Antokol is carried forward by an extraordinary crew - our dedicated and wonderful staff, who give so much of themselves every day; our amazing residents, who are the heart and soul of our home; and our families and friends, whose love, trust and support are such an important part of the Antokol community. Together, we are one crew. Together, we have created something very special.
So, as we celebrate 75 years of Antokol Care Home, my wish for all of us is a simple one: may our beautiful ship continue to sail through the world for many, many years to come. May its journey be filled with kindness, dignity, friendship and laughter. May it continue to be a place where people feel safe, valued and loved. May we weather every storm together, celebrate every moment of sunshine, and never forget that it is the people on board who make the journey so extraordinary.
To everyone who has been part of Antokol over these 75 years - past and present - thank you for being part of our story and part of our journey. Here’s to 75 wonderful years behind us, and many more still to come.
